Lyft Driver review

Lyft Driver is an app which Lyft drivers use. They need it to track the orders, locations and receive payments from the original Lyft app for users. There’s everything available in the app for working with Lyft like online DMV and background checks. In-app tips is a unique feature for Lyft drivers, and also you can get some discounts and other perks with this app. Interface 7/10 The interface here is similar to the main Lyft app. But it’s less colorful with fewer features available. On the main screen, you see the map with squared pink locations, Power Zones. Those are the areas where you might be most wanted. Lower than that you have your Home icon as well as Earnings and Referrals. On the top of the screen, you have Go Online button which makes your car visible to Lyft users. Your main menu is on the left side of the screen. Menu and Features 7/10 The main feature here is Earnings of course where you can track the total payout for the day. In that section, you see how many rides you had today and how many hours you worked. Also, there you can see how much is left for your signing up bonuses, they increase with the number of rides you'll make. From there you see your income break down including tips. In the main menu where you can check out your dashboard, scheduled pickups, info on your vehicle, navigation, and amp. You can rate the passengers through this app as well. Usability 7/10 From the first try, you can see that the original app for users is better thought than this one for drivers. For users, there's a lot more features and menu options. Ok, I get that users are the ones who pay, but the drivers are also very important. That's why...

There’s everything available in the app for working with Lyft like online DMV and background checks. Interface 7/10

The interface here is similar to the main Lyft app. But it’s less colorful with fewer features available. On the main screen, you see the map with squared pink locations, Power Zones. Those are the areas where you might be most wanted. Lower than that you have your Home icon as well as Earnings and Referrals. Menu and Features 7/10

The main feature here is Earnings of course where you can track the total payout for the day.

Usability 7/10

From the first try, you can see that the original app for users is better thought than this one for drivers. For users, there's a lot more features and menu options. Ok, I get that users are the ones who pay, but the drivers are also very important. That's why I think there could be more features on it and maybe a whole social media for drivers to share their experiences and tricks for more earnings. But it's not bad to use, it's very intuitive - even a child could manage this app.

Any Glitches? 1/10

Very glitched app with slow performance. The location GPS doesn’t work properly and the map glitches as well. Sometimes there are unnecessary pop-ups and notifications shown on the screen. Also, there’s often a mess up and misunderstandings in the reward system.

Devices Compatibility

The app requires Android 7 or later. And if it worked before on earlier Android versions the new update won’t work on them anymore. Doesn’t work on Xiaomi and doesn’t work in some states. It’s more convenient to use it on your tablet than a smartphone because it has a bigger size of the map and fonts. BTW the maps are integrated with Google maps, you can choose the Waze map as well.

Is it Any Good?

No, it’s not a very good app. It can give drivers too much stress and anxiety sometimes. There are some perks to it like not owning a car and some easier procedures in regards to background and a car check, but the usability of this app isn't perfect. At the same time, it's cool that it motivates passengers to give you tips and you don't need to earn a lot before transferring your money out of the app.

Pros:

  • A pretty easy way to earn extra cash
  • Easy to use the app with a clear interface
  • There are bonuses and discounts for Lyft drivers

Cons:

  • High competition with Uber and other car-sharing apps
  • The passengers, in general, are worse than with Uber
  • Glitches sometimes
